Man Utd star Daniel James brilliantly trolls Chelsea rival Billy Gilmour

Daniel James aimed a superb dig at Billy Gilmour and Chelsea while the Premier League rivals were taking part in a FIFA tournament for charity.

The Manchester United forward has been a surprise hit at Old Trafford this season, while Gilmour burst onto the scene when he played a starring role in Chelsea dumping Liverpool out of the FA Cup earlier this year.

James, 22, was chatting to Gilmour about which teams they would be playing as, with each man picking their respective clubs.

When Gilmour confirmed he would be picking Chelsea, James chirped in: ‘Beat them for the fourth time this season, is it?’

James’ jibe drew with a laugh from Gilmour and they would finish their FIFA rivalry with one win each.

On the pitch, however, Chelsea have lost their last three encounters against United.

The Red Devils beat Chelsea home and away in the Premier League this season and also knocked the Blues out of the Carabao Cup.

Gilmour and James are likely to have an extended wait to face each other on the pitch again.

The season has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Premier League chiefs are hopeful the postponed games can be played during the summer.

The 2019/20 league campaign has been extended indefinitely during the lockdown.

While Health Secretary Matt Hancock has called upon players to agree to a pay cut, the Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA) hit back at the government targeting footballers during a health crisis.

‘The players are mindful that as PAYE employees, the combined tax on their salaries is a significant contribution to funding essential public services – which are especially critical at this time,’ a statement read.

‘Taking a 30 per cent salary deduction will cost the Exchequer substantial sums. This would be detrimental to our NHS and other government-funded services.

‘The proposed 30 per cent salary deduction over a 12-month period equates to over £500m in wage reductions and a loss in tax contributions of over £200m to the government.

‘What effect does this loss of earning to the government mean for the NHS? Was this considered in the Premier League proposal and did the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock factor this in when asking players to take a salary cut?’
