Both Chelsea and Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, clearing the way for Manchester United to sign the teenager this summer.

The England international has been attracting attention from the Premier League’s biggest clubs thanks to his performances in the Bundesliga, enjoying a superb campaign for Dortmund.

In just 23 league outings, the 19-year-old has scored 14 goals and laid on 16 assists – contributing to a goal every 60 minutes – while he has also impressed in the Champions League.

United are desperate to make Sancho their marquee signing this summer and had feared competition from their Premier League rivals, but now appear to have a clear run at the youngster.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea and Liverpool have been put off by Dortmund’s mammoth £120million asking price and fear they cannot compete with United’s spending power.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is the Blues’ record signing at £71.6m, while Liverpool spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk, though buying a new attacker is not as pressing a concern as either of those signings.

On Sancho’s part he is believed to be drawn towards the prospect of developing his talent in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s young United side, while the Liverpool starting XI could be hard to force his way into.

Jurgen Klopp already has a front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, with more options on his bench.

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes the talent already at Liverpool could be a problem for Sancho, telling GentingBet: ‘When you look at the Liverpool frontline, you’ve got Mane and Salah as the goal-getters and that is exactly what they do well.

‘They command a respect from defenders as a result. You’d like to think that Sancho has the quality to get in the side but it will be very tough to get in ahead of Salah or Mane.’
